Birch
Birch is the type of wood that is traditionally used in furniture manufacturing. The bright, beautiful appearance has become synonymous with "the Scandinavian blonde". The birch in GAD's furniture comes from Finland, as the quality we use is difficult to find within Sweden's borders.
Oak
The hard and heavy oak is very beautiful as a type of furniture wood. The oak is durable and ages with dignity. The linseed-oiled oak also smells amazingly good. The oak in GAD's furniture comes from Europe, as the quality we use is difficult to find within Sweden's borders.
Limestone
The limestone we use is mined in northern Gotland and is called Norrvange. The boards have a natural brushed surface treatment that highlights the surface and brings out a "natural" slightly rawer structure.
Diabase
We offer black diabase from the Hägghultsbrottet in Lönsboda. Diabase is an exclusive and hard-to-find rock that was formed during volcanic eruptions from the Earth's inner core 900-1500 million years ago, when glowing magma was pushed up to the Earth's surface in the narrow fissures of the primordial rock.
The diabase found and mined in north-eastern Skåne and the Hägghultsbrottet is particularly sought after for its deep black tone, its durability and its weight. It has a matte and saturated exclusivity that can only be found in solid natural materials of the highest class.
Lambskin
We use lambskin from Gotland. The Gotland fur sheep is recognized as one of the best fur breeds in the world. The wool is gray (there are different shades) with wonderful curls and a nice luster.
Leather
The leather in our furniture is vegetable-tanned aniline leather from Tärnsjö tannery, naturally produced in a sustainable way and acquires a fantastically beautiful patina over years of use. We also use semi-aniline leather from Elmo, which is also chrome-free, dyed and of the absolute highest quality.
Wool fabric
A wool fabric has the best properties among furniture fabrics. It is durable, naturally dirt-repellent and burns poorly, it is experienced as cool in summer and warm in winter. Our standard fabric is made of 100% merino wool and is available in three gray shades, all of which go very well with both oak and birch.
